You’re now at the midway point, and it’s time to celebrate. You’ve learned a great deal so far, but there’s more work to be done. With an effect already in motion, there’s now an opportunity to enhance it. General Manager and Founder Keith Guerrette and Director of Marketing & Content Julian Bahmani will be talking about the material editor and bringing a flash to the spark effect to bring that extra pop.

Episode 5 - Not A Flash In The Pan
We’re arming you with knowledge that can be applied to an array of effects. That’s why, Episode 5 of BFX-U | Learn With Us: First Playable Grenade Explosion will converge around the material editor. Keith Guerrette speaks to the importance of this brand-new tool and walks you through a complex material graph and all of its fundamental elements.
The episode will touch on issues of lighting, demonstrate how to make a basic material and walk you through how to connect it to the Niagara system. We’ll also show you how to bring assets into the mix and put them through a texture tool, to bring further realism to the effect.
You should come away with a much better appreciation of what materials can do for your effect, and can now get comfortable with making tweaks along the way to your particle material in the material editor.
