Ep10 - Beyond-FX VFX Director Review - Learn with Us: First Playable Grenade Explosion | BFX-U
Bring the course to a close with our final episode.
For The Final Time
It’s been quite the ride, but Episode 10 is finally here. In our inaugural BFX-U | Learn with Us course, our fantastic hosts, Beyond-FX’s General Manager and Founder Keith Guerrette, and Director of Marketing & Content Julian Bahmani, have hopefully shown you an accessible pathway to creating your first playable effect in Unreal Engine. After learning so much, it’s time to bring it all to a close and review what we’ve covered throughout this course.
Episode 10 is available to watch right now, alongside the rest of the series. If you want to go back to the beginning to really hone those skills, then we encourage you to do so. Keep tabs on our Beyond-FX blog and Subscribe to the Beyond-FX YouTube channel for all of our latest educational content and future BFX-U | Learn with Us courses.
Episode 10 - The Review & Round-Up
Last episode, Julian Bahmani and Beyond-FX Content Producer Jessica Villarreal were assigned some homework to create their own playable grenade explosion effect based on what they’ve learned from this series. In Episode 10, those final effects are reviewed and discussed, highlighting even more tips and tricks that you can use to perfect your own creations.
The team is joined by one of our Beyond-FX VFX Directors, Jason Johnston, who provides his own assessment of the effects and gives insight into the value of doing regular art reviews with peers, which speaks to the essence of collaboration and how a project can be improved by mutual support.
Finally, the group mused over what it means to be a VFX artist and how much fun it can actually be weaving that visual magic. They set out the next steps, and what you can now do to level up your game.
