How to Use Named Reroute Nodes to Clean Up a Material Graph

If your Material graphs are a bit messy in Unreal Engine, clean them up with the use of “Named Reroute Node.” This will reroute connections between nodes in an organized way that will make your graph more readable for you and your team, instead of having several overlapping connections.

What is a Reroute Node?

A Reroute Node connects nodes and allows you to move the wires around by adding an "extension cord" to your out pin aiding in eliminating any overlapping wires.

What is Named Reroute Node?

A Named Reroute Node is similar to a Reroute Node except you can make a customized label for a specific connection. You can use the same Named Reroute Node in several places, eliminating wires that stretch across your graph.

  1. Drag off an Output pin of your node and search for Add Named Reroute Declaration Node
  2. Give it a name
  3. Drag off the Input pin of the previously connected wire, or right click, and search for your newly named node and connect it.

Now you have an “invisible” connection between your two nodes!
