How To Keep Your Emissive Color Despite Exposure Changes

If you’ve ever run into an issue where your emissive material changes in brightness due to lighting changes or exposure, we’ll show you how to keep your emissive material the same regardless of the exposure in the game level by dividing the final emissive color by Eye Adaptation.

What is an Emissive Material?

Materials that produce their own light or appear to glow are known as emissive materials in Unreal Engine.

What is Eye Adaptation?

Eye Adaptation, or automatic exposure, causes the exposure of the scene to automatically adjust to recreate the effect experienced as human eyes adjust when going from a bright environment into a dark environment or vice versa.

1. In your material, divide the final emissive color by Eye Adaptation and no matter the exposure value, your emissive will look the same.
